It was recorded that the people in days of old were in great expectance waiting for the promise of God. They earnestly and eagerly waited for the better life that God hath promised (Hebrew 11: 35). There were prophecies told by many prophets and messengers of God about the coming Messiah, who would be the savior of the people.
Here is my servant, whom I uphold, my chosen one in whom I delight, I will put my spirit in him and he would bring justice to the nation ...Isaiah 42:1-9
Unfortunately, they did not have the opportunity to meet the savior. The bible says that they all did not receive this very promise.
Hebrews 11:39All these people earned a good reputation because of their faith, yet none of them received all that God had promised.
Why do we need a savior?
Since the fall of man in the garden of Eden, the bible recorded that the identity of God in a man which is His spirit was lost and man became empty. As a result of God's punishment, man became a new being, a living soul. That first Adam was corrupted and polluted. Since then, Adam began to give birth to sons in his own image, in which we all who were born has now become part of this kind of life. When you and I were born, we were born in the image of the fallen man.
As mankind began to expand, in order to reconcile with God, they would make use of sacrifice as burnt offerings. The bible recorded that they would often kill a young lamb that will be taken into the Holies of Holy in the temple by the priest, the sacrifice and the blood of the lamb will serve as a ransom for their sin.
God in his infinite mercy and love for us provided a sacrifice that will not only atone for our sin but also make us right with Him and as well restore the relationship between man and God as it was in the garden of Eden.
This sacrifice is our Lord Jesus. He is the unblemished Lamb who knew no sin that was slain, and his blood, the atonement for our sin (the result of the nature we inherited in the garden).
For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ. (2 Corinthians 5:21)
The death of Jesus on the cross and the blood spilt are symbols of reconciliation with God and God's love for mankind. They are metaphor of salvation. The death of Jesus is the bedrock and foundation of the Christian belief.
God said anyone who believe will be called the son of God and anyone who doesn't believe is condemned.
But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God.(John 1:12)
There is no judgement against anyone who believes in him. But anyone who does not believe in him has already been judged for not believing in God's one and only son.
What is your decision today? Do you want to be among the saved ones or the condemned ?
